Defqon.1 is an annual hardstyle festival in the Netherlands (in the past also held in Australia and Chile). Hardstyle is the main style, but you will also hear many other styles such as Hardcore, Hardtrance, Frenchcore, Terrorcore, Early Hardstyle, Industrial Hardcore, Euphoric Hardstyle and many more.
In 2025 the festival had 14 stages. "RED stage" is the biggest, with the main focus on Mainstream Hardstyle. The second biggest is "BLACK stage", where the focus is on Mainstream Hardcore. There are many other stages of different sizes and styles, and some of them switch genre between festival days. You can read more about the stages and the artists in this year's lineup.
Since Q-dance moved the festival to Biddinghuizen in 2011, it has grown from a one-day festival to a three-day festival, and in recent years one more day has been added, so there are now four great festival days. The festival is usually held on the last weekend of June every year.
Over 250,000 visitors from 110 countries came to the festival in 2023.
Defqon.1 takes place in Biddinghuizen, about 70 km from Amsterdam. If you travel to the Netherlands on your own, public transport by train and then bus is the easiest option. Several bus trips are also organised from Denmark, Sweden and Norway. They are usually sold as travel packages that include the return bus trip and a festival ticket.
Scandinavia's largest travel organiser Coretours is an official partner of Q-dance. Coretours organises trips to most Q-dance events and to many others such as Tomorrowland, Qlimax and Dominator Festival.
