The million-dollar question: how much time off should I take for Defqon.1? We get this question almost every day. As most of you know, Defqon.1 is held in June every year, usually on the last weekend. For many people this means taking holiday earlier than usual, and it makes things a bit harder for summer workers.

How much time off you need depends entirely on how far from the pick-up points you live. The Coretours buses leave from Sweden, and someone getting off in Malmö obviously has a shorter journey than someone getting off in Stockholm.

What are the festival dates?

In 2027, Defqon.1 Weekend Festival runs from Thursday to Sunday, 24-27 June.

Which days should I ask for off?

Besides the Defqon.1 event days, you need time off for the trip there and the detox you will need afterwards. Every year, lots of people play superhero and think they can work the day after they get home from Defqon.1, or even the same day if the bus gets back in the morning.

For your own sake and your employer's, we recommend a bit of self-awareness. In other words: you will not be a superhero after four days of raving at Defqon.1 😉

The bus trip starts the day before the festival, and the journey home starts in the morning the day after the last festival day. Exact departure and arrival times for 2027 are published by Coretours. We recommend that you also take two days off after you get home to recover.

The campsite opens at 12:00 on Thursday and closes at 12:00 on Monday. The festival is open on Thursday evening and from Friday to Sunday, 11:00-23:00. Read more about getting to Defqon.1 and the tickets.

Do I really need that much time off?

The above is based on almost 10 years of raving experience. We have seen so many festivalgoers who think they are immortal and that it will just be one drink on Saturday night. You need rest after a festival, or you will probably get ill. And when you are off sick, we both know the pay is a lot lower than when you work.

Is it worth being this worn out after Defqon.1?

Of course! Defqon.1 is a magical festival. Read our article 8 reasons why you will love Defqon.1 and you will understand why you have to go.
